Mister Dylan

Owner / Instructor

Mister Dylan has been drawing since 1st grade when he drew a fish. Not just any fish. A fish with gills. It blew his mind. Ever since the fish drawing, Mister Dylan has been drawing everything from cars to werewolves, to potatoes (with arms and legs) to master copies of Renaissance art. From the humble fish drawing, which took about 3 minutes, Mister Dylan has moved on to spending more than 20 hours on a single drawing to over 70 hours on a single portrait oil painting. Mister Dylan doesn’t consider himself an artist, but rather a lifelong student of the science of art and design. Or, more importantly, someone who enjoys teaching kids how to draw his gallery of original rogue characters like Jerry the Winter Tuna, Hmmph Cat, Snoots LaRue, Carl the Box Cat, Puff Doodle, Baby Bubble Bot and a bunch more.

Mister Dylan briefly attended film school before landing a job for the sketch comedy show, MADtv, where he worked for 10 years as a pop-culture researcher and a graphic and web designer. He has been an illustrator for Emmy winning costume designer, Wendy Benbrook, as well as a professional illustrator, graphic designer, and web designer for a number of major brands. Mister Dylan’s design work has been published in a variety of film and television trade magazines, including Emmy Magazine, as well as promotional emails and websites for a range of brands including Best Buy, Food Network, Dermalogica, and more.

Inspyr Arts is the personal art studio of Mister Dylan. He teaches art and design to kids and adults. He also visits elementary schools around Long Beach, California where he gives assemblies and in-class art lessons focusing on a diverse range of artists and designers from around the world, sharing their stories and the techniques they use to create art.
